Description
This carpet has strong round shape central motif comprised of several colours including shades of red. Just within the field running along the inner guard border is a delightful pastel green track that helps to make the whole carpet restful, but at the same time interesting. The shades of colour include tones of parchment, sand, reds and green. It is a beautiful carpet. Designed by Master Esmaeli.
Qom rugs (or Qum, Ghom, Ghum) are made in the Qom Province of Iran, around 100 km south of Tehran. Although rug weaving in Qom was not a major industry until the past 100 years, the luxurious silk and wool rugs of Qom are known for their high quality and are regarded among the most expensive in the world.
The rugs from Qum ‘walk on the shoulders of giants’. Because they are relatively new arrivals to the art of carpet design and weaving, they have drawn inspiration from the best carpet weavers, and often have produced rugs superior to those from which they have drawn inspiration.
These carpets are regarded as being among the most beautiful and the most exclusive Persian carpets available. They are often knotted entirely in silk, resulting in a carpet with great lustre. The fine silk thread used makes it possible to produce incredibly detailed patterns.
