Qum rugs are among the finest rugs in the world. The quality of Qum silk rugs is particularly high. In the past and at present, Qum is one of the most important centres for producing silk, Kourk wool and silk inlaid carpets. Weavers in Qum use Persian knots and average around 600 knots per square inch. The majority are small, very fine, and beautiful; so many people hang them on the wall. The patterns are usually highly curvilinear, but they sometimes illustrate landscape features or historical stories. Qum is located in central IRAN, about 100 km south of Tehran, near Dasht-e-Kavir, a large salt desert to the east.

A most unique and spell binding carpet. It is from the city of Qum and is made form silk. The centre is an elongated elliptical shape and contains an arrangement of most beautiful flowers. The rest of the carpet has an amazing range of flowers and motifs, all contained within a solid coloured outer guard border.

Qom rugs (or Qum, Ghom, Ghum) are made in the Qom Province of Iran, around 100 km south of Tehran. Although rug weaving in Qom was not a major industry until the past 100 years, the luxurious silk and wool rugs of Qom are known for their high quality and are  regarded among the most expensive in the world.  

These carpets are regarded as being among the most beautiful and the most exclusive Persian carpets available. They are often knotted entirely in silk, resulting in a carpet with great lustre. The fine silk thread used makes it possible to produce incredibly detailed patterns.
